I’ve created brand systems for organizations like Atlas Local, Pathwright, Bossy Bakers, Frontier Label, The Exchange, and Jessica Beinecke’s Crazy Fresh Chinese.
I’ve written about how design works in three phases, why education is ready to get out of beta, and the secret to creative work.
At Pathwright, I’ve worked since 2011 to design creative, likable online tools for teaching. I’ve directed teams and built culture that brings human design, open teamwork, and un-lonely learning to life for our employees and customers alike.
I think we are who we always were. When I was six, I cut up craft paper and cardboard boxes to make spaceships in our garage. Now I draw vectors and slice layers in Photoshop. At nine, I pulled my brothers in a Radio Flyer behind my bike through the steepest hills in our neighborhood. Now I take walks and design internet-based delight with my coworkers. At thirteen, I wrote absurd short stories for English class to see if I could make the teacher laugh. Now I’m here, at my laptop, writing this, seeing if I can make you laugh.
